John Bacon West, 80, of Herndon, died on Tuesday, June 30, at his home. A native of Washington, D.C., he graduated from Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, Maryland, in 1964 and then went on to Lynchburg College in Virginia, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts. He wired computers for the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for an apple orchard in Virginia and was in sales for the Christian radio station WAZR in Virginia, and sales at Kentucky Moving and Storage in Hopkinsville. He was a partner and elder at Journey Church in Hopkinsville and was chairman of the board of the Roaring Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral will be at noon Friday, July 3, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ancestral Haven Memorial Gardens.
