Helen Marie Henderson Carter, 87, of Hopkinsville, died on Tuesday, March 26, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center. A Hopkinsville native, she worked in medical records for Dr. J.K. Conlan and Dr. Frances Van Meter. Funeral services will be at noon Monday, April 1, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour. She was a charter member of the church. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton is in charge of arrangements. 

Barbara Joyce Bird, 77, of Hopkinsville, died on Monday, March 25, at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West in Nashville, Tennessee. A native of Hopkinsville, she was a homemaker and a member of Church of God of Prophecy. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Lamb Funeral Home, with Rev. Steven Bird officiating and Rev. Darrell Russell assisting. Burial will follow at Peaceful Meadows Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday at the funeral home. 

Mary “Mae” Elizabeth Johnson, 81, of Hopkinsville, died on Monday, March 25, in Nashville, Tennessee. A native of Christian County, she was a member of Herndon Bronaugh Baptist Church, where she was the church secretary for 57 years. She was employed as a production line worker with Thomas Industries.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, March 30, at Gamble Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Double Barn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour Saturay at the funeral home.

Bertha Nell Bussell, 87, of Hopkinsville, died on Saturday, March 23, in Hopkinsville. She was a member of Durrett Avenue Baptist Church, where she was a member of the ladies chorus, mass choir, usher ministry and the carnation club. She was employed at International Shoe Factory. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, at Durrett Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Cave Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour Wednesday at the church.

Benjamin Larry Russell, 76, of Clarksville, died on Tuesday, March 19, in Nashville, Tennesssee. A native of Christian County, he was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and was employed in the financial division at General Motors. He also was a member of Mt Zion CME in Todd County. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.

Terry Wayne Butts, 61, a native of Princeton, died on Saturday, March 23, at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor at Brazeway Inc. in Hopkinsville for 35 years and was a member of the Rockfront Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, at King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz.

Catherine “Cathy” Denise Carter, 64, of Hopkinsville, died on Sunday, March 17. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at Adams and Sons Mortuary. Burial will follow at IBF Cemetery in LaFayette, Kentucky. Visitation will befrom 11 a.m. until the service hour Tuesday at the funeral home.

Shelby Briggs, 86, of Cadiz, died on Thursday, March 21, at her home. A native of Hopkinsville, she was retired from Lake Barkley State Resort Park, where she served as a hostess and server in the dining room for 23 years. After retiring, she continued to work at Cadiz Restaurant for several years. She was a longtime member of Liberty Point Baptist Church. A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Monday, March 25, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main St., Cadiz, with Rev. Paxton Redd officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Goodwin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The memorial service will be livestreamed at 6 p.m. Monday, March 25, on the funeral home’s YouTube channel.

Austin “Bubba” Gulledge, 24, of Hopkinsville, died at 6:01 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center. A native of Clarksville, Tennessee, he was the son of Tyson Gulledge and Amanda Dossett. No services are scheduled. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Thomas Edward McCauley, 66, Clarksville, died on Wednesday, March 20, in Clarksville, Tennessee. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, he previously worked as a CMT at Jennie Stuart Medical Center, Western State and The Veterans Home. He was an U. S. Army veteran. Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 1, at Gamble Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour Monday at the funeral home.

Estel Norman Manasco, 89, of Madisonville, died March 20 at Madisonville Health and Rehab. A native of Christian County, he graduated from Crofton High School and Austin Peay State University, where he ran track. Known to many as Stormin’ Norman, he taught and coached Dawson Springs and Providence high schools, as well as in Madisonville and Jessamine County, Kentucky, and Hendersonville, Tennessee. He was a member of the Crofton Christian Church, was a Kentucky Colonel and was a member of the EW Turner Masonic Lodge in Earlington, Kentucky. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at Ridgetop Cemetery in Crofton, with a reception to follow at Gordon Park, 13731 Old Madisonville Road. Dogwood Funerals and Cremations is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crofton Christian Church.

Benjamin “Ben” Walden, 42, died on March 19, at home, following an 18-month battle with stage 4 renal cell carcinoma. A native of Milan, Tennessee, he was a 1999 graduate of Marshall County High School and a 2002 graduate of Murray State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Graphics and Design, Mechanical Design. He was employed at Trane Technologies as a design manager and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. He also helped establish the archery program at Christian County Middle School and Christian County High School.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, at Peaceful Meadows Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Christian County High School Archery Program, 200 Glass Ave., Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
