Herbert Patterson Brandt, 93, of Hopkinsville, died at 11:27 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at his residence. A native of Cassia County, Idaho, he was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the Korean War as a Hospital Corpsman. Upon discharge from the Navy, he attended the Butler University School of Pharmacy and graduated in 1958. He worked for the Eli Lilly Company until he purchased a drug store in Hopkinsville and renamed it Corner Drugs. He closed the store in 1988, and began working at CVS Pharmacy until retiring in 2008. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at th e funeral home.
