Henry Jarrell Long


Henry Jarrell Long, died on Friday, Jan. 3, at his home surrounded by family. Raised on a farm in Gracey, Kentucky, he competed in local 4-H and FFA competitions, while also helping on the farm. After graduating in 1965 from Christian County High School, where he was a star basketball player, he attended Austin Peay State University for a short stint before joining the Army National Guard as a tank commander. He retired from Bell South in 2000, when he began farming full time. He was a charter member of the Christian County Cattlemen’s Association. In December 2021 he was inducted into the Christian County High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour Wednesday at the funeral home.
