Dr. Sam Traughber

Dr. Sam Hendley Traughber, 87, of Destin, Florida, and formerly of Hopkinsville, died Thursday, April 13, at his home. He was a cardiologist and completed his residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He began his medical practice in 1969 in Hopkinsville. Prior to attending medical school, Traughber earned a master’s degree in music and worked as a music therapist at the VA Hospital in Gulfport, Alabama. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army and played trumpet in the 97th Army Band. Traughber was involved in numerous civic, medical and church organizations in Hopkinsville. A memorial service will be at noon Friday, May, 5, at First United Methodist Church, Hopkinsville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
