David “Dave” Woodson Cook, 85, of Clarksville, Tennessee, and formerly of Hopkinsville, died on Tuesday, July 28, at St. Thomas West Hospital. After graduating as valedictorian from high school, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Murray State University. He went into the distilling business and transitioned into the whiskey barrel production industry. He then went into air pollution control as a sales engineer in Memphis, Tennessee. His last job was with Moltan, mining natural absorbents. He was a U.S. Army Reserve veteran. He was a member of the Hopkinsville Asphalt Angels, Sigma Phi Epsilon, and Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, Tennessee. The family has chosen cremation, with a celebration of life service to be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home. Burial of his cremains will be at a later date in Withers Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour Saturday at the funeral home.
