Based on the state population of 4.47 million, each district in the 100-member state House of Representatives should have about 44,700 people, each district in the 38-member state Senate should have about 117,000 people and each of Kentucky’s six Congressional districts should have 745,000 people.
Kentucky courts must hold remote hearings for all proceedings, except emergency cases, require grand jury proceedings to either be conducted remotely or suspended and limit entry to court facilities.
Elridge will take over the party after historic losses for Democrats across Kentucky. Democrats now hold just 25 seats in the 100-member state House of Representatives and 8 seats in the 38-member Senate, a low-water mark for the party.
Several business owners filed the lawsuit, and Attorney General Daniel Cameron joined a a plaintiff. Justice Lisabeth Hughes wrote on behalf of the court, saying that the governor did have the power to issue emergency executive orders.
