Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell has been released from a residential rehabilitation center and will work from home while he recovers from a fall.
In a statement released over the weekend from his office, McConnell said, “I want to sincerely thank everyone for all the kind wishes. I’m happy to say I finished inpatient physical therapy earlier today and I’m glad to be home.
“I’m going to follow the advice of my physical therapists and spend the next few days working for Kentuckians and the Republican Conference from home. I’m in frequent touch with my Senate colleagues and my staff. I look forward to returning in person to the Senate soon.”
McConnell, 81, suffered a concussion and fractured rib when he fell March 8 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Washington, D.C. He was attending a private dinner following a reception at the hotel. He was taken by ambulance from the hotel and was hospitalized until March 13, when he transferred to a rehab facility.
The Senate will be on break April 3 to 14.
