The Main Street Tavern Restaurant, known for its brick-oven pizzas, specialty cheesecakes and weekly trivia nights, will be closing at the end of the year, owners Paul and Adam Barnes announced in a Facebook post.
The restaurant at Eighth and Main streets will close after its New Year’s Eve party, Adam Barnes told Hoptown Chronicle.

They are closing because there will be a rent increase in 2023. Adam Barnes said they understand the property owner’s decision but they don’t believe they can afford the increase.
If the couple can find a more affordable location it is possible they will establish a new restaurant, he added.
“We greatly appreciate everyone’s support and we appreciate everyone who has reached out to us,” he said.
The downtown restaurant opened in July 2017. It is housed in a portion of the former Keach Furniture building. The historic property was restored by the late Robert Fears, a Hopkinsville attorney.
Adam Barnes said the restaurant will have its annual Bud Bash party on the Friday after Thanksgiving and it will continue the trivia games at 7 p.m. every Thursday through the end of the year.
