Levi Peterson book signing set for Saturday at museum

The retired educator was the first Black administrator at Hopkinsville High School.

Levi Peterson Jr., who was an assistant principal at Hopkinsville High School for 20 years, will be at the Pennyroyal Area Museum from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday to sign copies of his book, “The Transformation of a High School Dropout.”

The book describes how Peterson overcame early academic setbacks and later became the first Black administrator at HHS.

A native of Birmingham, Peterson served in the U.S. Air Force before becoming an educator. He moved to Hopkinsville in 1968 to accept a teaching position and became an assistant principal in 1974.

Copies of Peterson’s book will be available while supplies last at the museum, 217 E. Ninth St. The book is also available to purchase from the publisher
