Kentucky launches website with tornado recovery resources

Gov. Andy Beshear has launched a website providing extensive information on resources for Kentuckians impacted by the recent tornadoes.

Gov. Andy Beshear launched a new website Wednesday that provides extensive information on resources for Kentuckians impacted by the recent tornadoes.

It includes contact information for tornado recovery resources, including cash assistance, construction, food, health care, housing, and how to apply for federal disaster assistance.

The governor said 9,700 Kentuckians have registered for assistance and FEMA has approved more than $3 million, so far, to help those impacted by the storm.

Other assistance is available from the Team Western Kentucky Tornado Relief Fund, which has pledges of $27 million from more than 120,000 donations.

For Kentuckians whose homes were damaged or destroyed by the tornadoes, state parks are providing shelter. Currently, state parks are providing housing and food services for 600 displaced Kentuckians and 169 first responders.

On Wednesday, Gov. Beshear, the First Lady and the Lieutenant Governor visited displaced Kentuckians housed at Lake Barkley State Park in Trigg County and Pennyrile State Park in Christian County.

The new website with recovery information is at governor.ky.gov/tornadoresources
