There are a variety of ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day this weekend in the heart of Hopkinsville’s downtown district — including live music at the Alhambra, speed dating at Camo Caravan, or a special meal at The Mixer, to name a few.
Hoptown Chronicle has compiled a list of suggestions for the holiday that is all about romantic and platonic love. Check these out:
Brew up friendships
Hopkinsville Brewing Co., 102 E. Fifth St., has a plan to keep you healthy with the Galentine’s Step, Stretch and Sip! from noon until 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Participants will get a “full body burn, deep stretch and time to hang over a drink.” This is a “part sweat, part social” event for people of all skill levels. Tickets are $30, and everyone will receive a drink ticket, plus a gift to take home.
There’s also a Galentine’s Party from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the brewery. Vendors will have charm bracelets, crepes and gourmet cookies — and there’s line dancing from 5 to 6 p.m.
(If you didn’t know, Galentine’s Day is an unofficial holiday that celebrates friendships and platonic love — usually on the day before Valentine’s.)

Share a bottle
The Book & Bottle Shop, 123 E. Ninth St., has a Valentine’s Day Board & Bottle special. Patrons can split a bottle of wine and a charcuterie board with a date or a friend to enjoy at home or in the store. Tickets are available online. The shop will be open from noon to 8 p.m., and those planning to have the wine and charcuterie in the shop will pick a seating time.
Dinner at home
In addition to its regular weekly offerings for take-away meals, Butter & Grace, 707 S. Virginia St., has a Sweetheart Special that serves two. The meal includes filet and crab cake, mashed potatoes, roasted asparagus, salad and a dessert choice (chocolate molten cake or strawberry cheesecake). There’s also a Valentine’s Day sweet treat box. Orders need to be placed by Tuesday night and picked up on Thursday.
Speed dating, anyone?
Camo Caravan, 1016 S. Main St., will host Singles Speed Dating from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Limited spots are available, and participants must sign up at the restaurant by Wednesday. The restaurant’s hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Free bar snacks will be served during speed dating, and special cocktails are planned.

A heart for pizza
The Crusty Pig, 202 E. Seventh St., will be serving heart-shaped pizzones on Saturday, when the restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. A pizzone is half calzone, half pizza — and this one is a plateful, so it’s shareable.
See a live show
The Pennyroyal Arts Council has a live show, Alfreda Sings Tina, featuring the biggest hits from Tina Turner performed by Alfreda Gerald.
The show starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Alhambra Theatre, 507 S. Main St. Tickets, available online, are $50 for adults and $35 for students.
Dinner for two (or more)
The Mixer, 114 E. Sixth St., has a special Valentine’s dinner menu for on Friday and Saturday. Entree choices include ribeye, roast chicken, salmon and roasted cauliflower steak. Valentine’s desserts will include chocolate-covered strawberry cake, red velvet cheesecake, vegan cake and praline brownie cookie skillet.
Reservations are made online through OpenTable or by calling the restaurant at 270-874-2416.
