The League of Women Voters of Hopkinsville will conduct a series of candidate forums in October to help voters learn more about the people running for local offices in the Nov. 3 general election.
Three nights have been slated for candidates running for Hopkinsville City Council, Hopkinsville mayor, Christian Fiscal Court and Christian County Board of Education. All of these forums, on Oct 1, 5 and 19, will be at the Hopkinsville Municipal Center, 715 S. Virginia St.
For most voters, the league’s forums are the only opportunity they have to see candidates in the same venue responding to the same questions.
The league is also conducting forums for candidates seeking office in Oak Grove on Oct. 22 and Oct. 23.
Here is the schedule for forums that will be conducted in Hopkinsville:
Thursday, Oct. 1
- 5 p.m. — Ward 1, Hopkinsville City Council: Sharon Manning (D) and Chance Andrew Tatum (R)
- 5:40 p.m. — Hopkinsville mayor’s race: Russ Guffey (R), Desaepa Vansauwa (I) and Markeeta Wilkerson (D)
Monday, Oct. 5
- 5 p.m. — Ward 8, Hopkinsville City Council: Stephen Crisp (R) and Tiffany Pittman (D)
- 5:35 p.m. — Ward 9, Hopkinsville City Council: Jamie Lienberger (R) and Monike Love (D)
- 6:10 p.m. — Ward 10, Hopkinsville City Council: Angelita W. Atkins (D) and Steve Keel (R)
- 6:45 p.m. — Ward 11, Hopkinsville City Council: Jason Bell (R) and Andrea Santos-Rickard (D)
Monday, Oct. 19
- 5 p.m. — District 3 magisterial race: George Barnett (R) and Faith Watkins (D)
- 5:35 p.m. — District 5 magisterial race: Austin Crawford (R) and James “Jim” Smith (D)
- 6:10 p.m. — District 3 school board race: Lindsey Clark and Yolanda S. Robinson
- 6:45 p.m. — District 5 school board race: Robert Webb, Whitney Holland and Twan Doan
