Hopkinsville church offering webinar on use of Facebook Live for worship, meetings

The online training begins at 3 p.m.

A Hopkinsville church is hosting a webinar Thursday, March 19, to teach others how to use Facebook Live for online worship and ministries as more groups transition to virtual meetings during the coronavirus outbreak.

Hillcrest Baptist Church will lead the webinar at 3 p.m.

There are two ways to participate online — downloading the Zoom app and entering the chatroom or watching a live stream on the Hillcrest Facebook page.

Hillcrest Baptist, on Skyline Drive, is among a growing number of Hopkinsville churches that have suspended in-person worship in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Last week, Gov. Andy Beshear asked all churches in Kentucky to not meet in person for worship and other activities. Many did not heed that warning.

Since the governor’s first request to churches, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state officials have urged against any gathering of 10 or more people.

Beginning Sunday, March 22, Hillcrest will suspend in-person worship. Members may watch a live stream of the service at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays, the church announced.
