Hopkinsville Chamber Orchestra and Chorus plans debut concert on June 20 at Alhambra

Heejung Park, the group's director, said, “We are creating a space where musicians and audiences come together to experience the power of live music ... that is accessible, inspiring and uniquely Hopkinsville.”

The newly formed Hopkinsville Chamber Orchestra and Chorus will give its debut concert at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, at the Alhambra Theatre.

In collaboration with the Pennyroyal Arts Council, the orchestra and chorus is under the direction of Heejung Park, the music director at First United Methodist Church.

“This is more than a concert — it’s the beginning of something meaningful for our community,” Park said in a press release. “We are creating a space where musicians and audiences come together to experience the power of live music in a way that is accessible, inspiring and uniquely Hopkinsville.”

Tickets for the concert are $25 for adults and $15 for students 18 and younger. They can be purchased online

The audience will be invited to a reception immediately following the performance.

“The program will feature a dynamic selection of orchestral and choral works designed to appeal to a wide audience, celebrating both artistic excellence and community spirit,” the release states.

The music will include selections from Georges Bizet’s “Carmen,” a U.S. Armed Forces medley, “Over the Rainbow,” a Disney song medley and other songs.

In addition to Park’s role as director, the group has Dan Kemp and Lindsey Adams as co-chairs, and Julie Kitten as chorus manager.
