Hopkinsville Beautification Commission slates Earth Day plantings

Community members can join the effort downtown at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 22.

Community members are invited to an Earth Day event at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 22, at Founders Square, Ninth and Main streets. The Hopkinsville Beautification Commission will organize plantings in the downtown district.

The Beautification Commission is a branch of city government that promotes several efforts to keep Hopkinsville clean and attractive. Some of its programs include the holiday decorations contest, Trash for Cash collections and the Tree-Membrance program.

Earth Day was established in 1970 and marked that start of the modern environmental movement.
