Applications are being accepted for Hopkinsville’s fourth City Diplomat Program.
The six-month program gives adults residents of Christian County an “opportunity to learn how to make municipal government work for them, gain knowledge of local municipal government, and have the opportunity to support their community through service, promotion, and volunteerism,” officials said in a press release from Mayor Wendell Lynch’s office.
Participants will meet at 6 p.m. on July 13, Aug. 3, Sept. 7, Oct. 5 and Dec. 7 for classroom sessions, demonstrations and hands-on activities.
“We are excited about offering citizens this unique opportunity to learn about the city of Hopkinsville and how local government works,” Lynch said in the release. “We hope this will provide citizens with a better understanding of how to get things done in our community.”
The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 10. Application forms are available online or at the Hopkinsville Municipal Center, 715 S. Virginia St.
Applicants who are selected for the new diplomat class will be notified by June 20.
