Health department is administering 2nd COVID-19 booster shots

Boosters shots are administered on Thursdays. Appointments are not required.

Following approval by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Kentucky Department for Public Health, the Christian County Health Department is administering an additional COVID-19 booster for certain individuals. 

The health department provided the following guidance:

  • A second booster dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine may be given to people at least 50 years old who had their first booster at least four months ago. 
  • A second dose of the Pfizer vaccine may be given to people 12 and older who are immunocompromised and who received the first booster at least four months ago. 
  • A second booster shot of the Moderna vaccine may be given to people 18 and older who are immunocompromised and who had the first booster at least four months ago. 

The CDC provides this COVID-19 vaccine guidance for those who are immunocompromised.

The booster shots are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays at the health department, 1700 Canton St. Appointments are not required, the agency said in a Facebook post
