Garden and Outdoor Living Expo set April 12-13

Organized by the Christian County Master Gardeners, the expo will feature 30 vendors and several free seminars on gardening and outdoor living.

More than 30 exhibitors will showcase plants and products for the Garden and Outdoor Living Expo on Friday, April 12, and Saturday, April 13, at the Christian County Agriculture Exposition Center, 2850 Pembroke Road. Hours will be 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Christian County Master Gardeners host the annual expo. Admission is free, as are several one-hour seminars on gardening and outdoor living.

Among exhibitors that will be selling plants and other goods are Superlawn and Garden Center, The Bloomery and Homestead Greenhouse. Food trucks at the expo will include Taste of Florida, Hampton’s, Holiday Burgers and Palette Junkies.

A live auction will begin at 4 p.m. Friday, and a silent auction will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. 

Both days there will be kids’ activities and a scavenger hunt with prizes.

Saturday’s seminars will include:

  • 9:30 a.m. — Are You Ready to Garden? by master gardener Frank Amaro
  • 10:30 a.m. — Historical Plants of Christian County by Alissa Keller, executive director of Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County
  • 11:30 a.m. — Basic Landscape Design for the Homeowner by Ashley Short, Highlandbrook Nursery
  • 12:30 p.m. — Attracting Native Pollinators to the Garden by master gardener Mary Lee Norfleet
  • 1:30 p.m. — Indoor Houseplant Care and ID by Dakota Moore, of the Kentucky Horticulture Council
