The Christian County Health Department on Tuesday reported two deaths attributed to COVID-19 — a 76-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman. The latter marks the county’s youngest virus-related victim to date.

Both individuals had underlying health conditions, health department spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney said in a news release. The deaths were unrelated, she added.

“We encourage everyone in the community to consider others as you are out and about in the community,” Sweeney said. “Please social distance when possible, wear a mask in public, and frequently wash your hands with warm soap and water.”

Health officials on Tuesday also confirmed 29 new coronavirus cases, pushing the total since the pandemic began to 1,095.

The seven-day rolling average of daily new cases remained at 16, just shy of the county’s highest average to-date of 17, which was reached for two days in mid-August.

The number of cases classified as active dropped significantly on Tuesday, to 164 from 209.
