Clerk’s office processing vehicle tag renewals

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said on Tuesday that the statewide computer issues were resolved.

The Christian County Clerk’s Office began processing some vehicle tag renewals and transfers on Tuesday, following a statewide computer system failure that affected transactions for several days. 

“The system is up and down at times,” a Christian County official said Tuesday morning in a Facebook post. 

Shortly before noon Tuesday, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced the computer system issues had been resolved.

“Delays may be experienced as clerks work through a backlog of vehicle-related service requests,” the cabinet said in a Facebook post. 

The problem originated in the cabinet’s Automated Vehicle Information System.

Vehicle owners can also renew their car registration online. It was not affected by the AVIS system failure.
