Classical musicians to perform April 25 at Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library

The free lecture-recital will feature double bassist Bill Koehler and pianist Amanda Huff-McClure.

Two classical musicians — double bassist Bill Koehler and pianist Amanda Huff-McClure — will perform at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library, 1100 Bethel St. The lecture-recital, titled “Medieval to Modern,” is free to attend.

“We’ll be playing a smattering of pieces from a variety of musical periods … including works by some lesser-known composers,” Huff-McClure wrote in a Facebook post.

Koehler is a composer and has performed with orchestras in Europe. He is a professor emeritus at Illinois State University, where he taught bass and other music courses for 35 years.

Huff-McClure is a piano teacher and owns and runs The Corner Coffeehouse with her wife, April Huff-McClure. They reside in Caldwell County.

Previously, Huff-McClure and Koehler  performed at the Alhambra Theatre.
