Clarksville native to give HCC Women’s History Month lecture

Candy Johnson, the president and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga, will give a guest lecture on “Women Who Lead with Purpose and Power,” for Hopkinsville Community College’s virtual Women’s History Month event at noon Tuesday, March 30. 

Johnson, a Clarksville, Tennessee, native, previously served as senior adviser to Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke and led efforts to create sustainable relationships that would advance the economic, racial and social agenda of the mayor’s office, according to a news release from HCC. 

Johnson earned her bachelor’s degree at Austin Peay State University and has a master’s in public administration from Murray State University. In 2008, she was elected to Clarksville City Council at the age of 25.
