City extends deadline for businesses to file net profit returns

The deadline is extended to July 15.

The city of Hopkinsville announced Tuesday an extension for businesses to file the 2019 net profit license fee returns.

A news release states:

“In light of the recently enacted federal extension to file income taxes, city officials have announced the deadline for businesses with a calendar year end  to submit a 2019 Net Profit License Fee Return has also been extended to July 15, 2020.

“Every person or business engaged in for-profit business activity in Hopkinsville during the 2019 calendar year is reminded they must file and pay the net profit license fee.

“On March 20, the Internal Revenue Service announced the deadline extension to file federal tax returns with no penalty or interest.  The city’s Net Profit License is based on federal tax returns and a copy of the federal return must be submitted with a net profit license filing.”
