Christian County Chamber of Commerce has new directors for marketing, military affairs

Michael McCoy, in marketing, and Shannon Lane, in military affairs, are new hires for the chamber.

The Christian County Chamber of Commerce has hired U.S. Army veteran Shannon Lane as its new Military Affairs director.

Lane fills the vacancy created when Kristi Murtha left the chamber for a job at Fort Campbell.

Shannon Lane

Lane is the second new hire for the chamber this summer. Previously, Taylor Hayes, the chamber’s president and CEO, announced that Michael McCoy had been named director of marketing and events.

“I am most impressed with Shannon’s energy, passion and ideas that will continue the elevated momentum Kristi created for the MAC program,” Hayes said in a press release. “He will be an enthusiastic ambassador sharing our vision as a place that values hospitality [and] promotes inclusion and opportunity for people of all backgrounds, including our military friends. I want to thank Kristi for her dedicated efforts. She remains an advocate of Christian County …”

Lane served 21  years in the Army, including eight years at Fort Campbell, the release states. Most recently he was an aviation warrant officer and had responsibility for “day-to-day operations, logistics, personnel and resource management.”

As director, he’ll work with the Christian County Military Affairs Committee to market the community as a military-friendly area and recruit military families to live in Christian County. He’ll also coordinate activities and advocate for government policies that “better the lives of military families.”

Lane and his wife, Kristine, who is also an Army veteran, are Christian County residents. They have six children. He’ll start his new job on Sept. 11.

McCoy, who is from Columbus, Georgia, filled a vacancy created when KaDee Andreasen relocated with her family to East Tennessee.

“Michael brings not only the experience needed for the position and fresh perspectives to the chamber, it’s his entrepreneur spirit that excites me as we continue to better meet our members’ needs,” Hayes said in a release

McCoy has a background in “networking mixers, conferences, community festivals and trade shows,” said Hayes. He is married and has two children. He is nearing completion on a bachelor’s degree from Full Sail University.
