Casey Jones joins tornado relief with online auction for a barrel of bourbon

The Christian County distillery donated its first ever Barrel Pick Experience for the auction.

Casey Jones Distillery is donating its first ever Barrel Pick Experience, which includes an entire barrel of its award-winning Kentucky Straight Bourbon, through an online auction with proceeds to help with tornado relief.

It’s part of the Kentucky Bourbon Benefit online auction to support Western Kentucky recovery and rebuilding efforts.

“People call me all the time asking if they can buy a whole barrel of our bourbon,” master distiller A.J. Jones said in a press release. “And here’s the opportunity …”

One barrel from the Christian County distillery will yield 200-plus 750ml bottles, and the winning bidder can get custom bottle labeling in addition to the barrel itself. The entire package is valued well over $10,000, the distillery said.

The online auction began Thursday and continues through Tuesday, Dec. 21. Items up for bidding can be viewed online.

As of 2:30 p.m. Sunday, bidding for the Casey Jones barrel and bourbon had reached $8.700.

The auction organizers are the Kentucky Distillers’ Association, Fred Minnick and Bourbon Crusaders.
