The next gathering of the bell hooks Book Club is set for 6 p.m. Monday, June 16, at the Pennyroyal Area Museum, 217 E. Ninth St.
The book club is discussing “All About Love” in small increments rather than the entire book in one setting. The book is an exploration of what causes a polarized society and how to heal divisions.
This month the group is discussing Chapters 3, “Honesty: Be True to Love,” and Chapter 4, “Commitment: Let Love Be Love in Me.”
The book club is open to anyone interested in learning more about the works of Hopkinsville native Gloria Jean Watkins, who wrote under the pen name bell hooks.
The pen name was inspired by her great-grandmother, Bell Blair Hooks.
Copies of the book are available to purchase in The Vault by Planters Bank Museum Shop, online through the museum’s Shopify store or from other book sellers. It is also available to check out from the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library.
The book club is sponsored by the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County, Hoptown Chronicle, the Christian County Literacy Council and the bell hooks Legacy Group.
