Alhambra showing 5 classic Christmas movies

The series concludes with "It's a Wonderful Life," on Thursday, Dec. 20.

The Pennyroyal Arts Council has slated five classic Christmas movies at the Alhambra Theater, 507 S. Main St., starting with a free showing of “The Polar Express” at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, prior to Hopkinsville’s Christmas parade.

There will be a special appearance by Santa Claus, who will read “The Polar Express” and be available for photos, said Margaret Prim, executive director of the arts council. Santa’s visit and the movie will conclude in time for families to see the parade, which starts at 5:15 p.m.

The next four movies in the Alhambra’s holiday lineup, each with $5 admission, are:

  • “Home Alone” – 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17
  • Elf” – 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18
  • “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” – 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19
  • “It’s a Wonderful Life” – 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20

The concession booth will be open for all of the movies. Tickets will be available to purchase online.
