The city of Hopkinsville is preparing to fill a vacancy on city council, and interested residents who live in Ward 5 have until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26, to submit an application.
The vacancy was created by the recent departure of Amy Craig, who is moving overseas for church mission work. Her council term expires on Dec. 31.
In addition to residing in the ward, applicants must be at least 18 years old, be a qualified voter and meet candidacy requirements under state law. (A map of the Ward 5 boundaries is available here.)
City officials said in a press release that an online application packet must be completed, and applicants need to submit:
- A resume outlining community involvement
- A letter explaining why they wish to serve on city council
- A completed Financial Interests Statement as required by the Code of Ethics
Applications may be submitted to City Clerk’s Office, Hopkinsville Municipal Center, 715 S. Virginia St., Hopkinsville, KY 42240.

After applications are received, city council will vote to select the person who will fill the vacancy.
