Advent tour planned of four historic churches in downtown Hopkinsville

Community members are invited to join the tour at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Freeman Chapel CME Church.

“A Light in the City,” an advent tour of four historic churches in downtown Hopkinsville, is planned from 1 until 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13.

Community members are invited to begin the tour at Freeman Chapel CME Church, 137 S. Virginia St., at 1 p.m. Every 30 minutes, the tour will continue to another church — Virginia Street Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church and Grace Episcopal Church.

At each stop, the group will tour sanctuaries and hear a brief history of the church and denomination. Refreshments will be served at the final stop, Grace Episcopal.

Participants may walk or drive to each church along the way.

The Christian County Ministerial Association is organizing the tour. Additional information is available by contacting the Rev. Becky Durham, of First Presbyterian, at revbecky@fpchopkinsville.com.
