Numerous holiday events for Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year are planned in Hopkinsville and surrounding areas.
Here’s the place to keep tabs on the many ways to participate in the community events offered by local organizations, including clubs, churches, schools, businesses and arts groups throughout holidays.

Hopkinsville Art Guild Christmas Bazaar
- When: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov 21 and 22
- Where: Memorial Building, 1202 S. Virginia St.
The Christmas Bazaar, featuring unique gift items made by 38 local artists, will include woodwork, photography, pottery, paintings, clothing, hand-painted cards and more.
Hoptown Holiday Hopfest
- When: Nov. 22
- Where: Alhambra Theatre, 507 S. Main St.
Country musician Deana Carter headlines the 11th annual Hoptown Holiday Hopfest. The theater opens at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets available online. The Pennyroyal Arts Council is offering “buy a seat, gift a seat” with code THANKFUL at checkout.
Community Thanksgiving Service
- When: 5 p.m. Nov. 23
- Where: Grace Episcopal Church, 216 E. Sixth St.
The Community Thanksgiving Service is sponsored by the Christian County Ministerial Association for local residents of all denominations.
Turkey Trot
- When: 8 a.m. Thanksgiving Day
- Where: Founders Square, Ninth and Main streets
The 24th annual Turkey Trot is 5K walk-run that begins at Founders Square and continues on a portion of the Hopkinsville Greenway.
Small Business Saturday
- When: Nov. 29
- Where: Independent businesses
Local businesses with support from the Christian County Chamber or Commerce, the Downtown Renaissance District and city government, will observe Small Business Saturday, offering special events to kick off holiday shopping in downtown Hopkinsville, at Pennyrile Marketplace and elsewhere in the city.
Christmas concert
- When: 6 p.m. Dec. 5
- Where: Performing Arts Center, Christian County Middle School, 215 Glass Ave.
The Pennryile Area Community Band will present its Christmas concert at the Performing Arts Center. Admission is free, but the band will accept donations.
‘The Nutcracker!’
- When: Dec. 5-7
- Where: Alhambra Theatre, 507 S. Main St.
The sixth annual production of the ballet, “The Nutcracker!” — presented by the Pennyroyal Arts Council and Brooke Bailey Dance Addiction & Gymnastics. Show times: 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 and 6; 2 p.m. Dec. 7. Tickets available online.
Christmas at the Bend
- When: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 6
- Where: Jeffers Bend Environmental Center, Metcalfe Lane
Christmas at the Bend is a holiday party for families with food, music, storytelling and crafts, and a visit from Santa Claus.
Holidaze Community Festival
- When: 4-6 p.m. Dec. 8
- Where: Bruce Convention Center, 303 Conference Center Drive
The Holidaze Community Festival offers free activities for children and families include pictures with Santa, cookie decorating, dancing, music, games, food and prizes.
‘A Christmas Carol: The Musical’
- When: Dec. 11-14
- Where: Alhambra Theatre, 507 S. Main St.
Campanile Productions and the Pennyroyal Arts Council present “A Christmas Carol: The Musical” based on the classic Charles Dickens story. Show times — 7 p.m. on Dec. 11, 12; 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 13; 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 14. Tickets available online.
Christmas parade
- When: 5:15 p.m. Dec. 13
- Where: Downtown Hopkinsville
The HES/EnergyNet Night Christmas Parade follows its traditional route along South Main Street in the heart of downtown Hopkinsville.
Holiday Concert
- When: 6:30 p.m. Dec. 15
- Where: First United Methodist Church, 1305 S Main St.
The community is invited to a classic holiday concert featuring Metropolitan Opera tenor Jonghyun Park, the church’s music associate, soprano Sorae Kim, the church orchestra and the Hopkinsville Community Choir.
12 Days of Christmas
- When: Dec. 13-24
- Where: The Showbox
The Showbox movie theater, behind the former Pennyrile Mall on Fort Campbell Boulevard, will show at different holiday classic each night at 6 p.m. Tickets for most of the shows are $5. See the schedule here.
Free holiday movies
- When: Dec. 22
- Where: Alhambra Theatre, 507 S. Main St.
Three classics at the downtown theater — “The Polar Express” at 10 a.m.; “Die Hard at 3 p.m.; and “It’s a Wonderful Life” at 6 p.m. Admission is free for all three showings.
