The Corner Coffeehouse will host poet and playwright Constance Alexander in a Kentucky Humanities-sponsored discussion of the book “Savory Memories: Kentucky Foodways” at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 19.
The book, a Kentucky Reads selection, is a collection of personal narratives, memories and recipes that celebrate “the rich culinary heritage of Kentucky through the lens of Kentucky authors,” Kentucky Humanities describes.

Published by University Press of Kentucky, the book includes essays by writers such as Joy Bale Boone, George Ella Lyon, Ronni Ludy, Ed McClanahan, Sena Jeter Naslund and Richard Taylor.
“We are grateful to have the opportunity to participate in this fantastic program for the third year in a row,” event organizers at The Corner Coffeehouse said in a Facebook post.
In addition to her literary work, Alexander, a Murray resident and Hoptown Chronicle board member, has written newspaper columns and led special projects for WKMS, the public radio station at Murray State University, for several decades. Her poetry writing workshops in Hopkinsville and in other communities attract enthusiastic participants.
The Corner Coffeehouse is located at 11th and Main streets in the Pennyroyal Building.
