Grace Episcopal Church is inviting community members to its Lenten Luncheon series every Friday, March 7 through April 11.
A local minister will lead a brief service each week beginning at noon, and a lunch prepared by members of Grace will follow.
A $10 donation is suggested for the meal, and proceeds support the missions of Grace.
The schedule of ministers leading the services is as follows:
- March 7 — The Rev. Lisa Balboa, Freeman Chapel CME
- March 14 — The Very Rev. Stephen Spicer, Grace Episcopal Church
- March 21 — The Rev. Becky Durham, First Presbyterian Church
- March 28 — Lt. Brittney Donegan, Salvation Army
- April 4 — The Rev. Catherine DeMoss, First Christian Church
- April 11 — The Rev. M.O. Fort, Virginia Street Baptist Church
Grace Episcopal Church is at Sixth and Liberty streets.
Christians observe Lent to commemorate the 40 days that the Bible says Jesus spent fasting in the desert. It begins on Ash Wednesday, which is March 5 this year, and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday, April 17. Easter Sunday is April 20.
