Hopkinsville-Christian County Newcomers and Neighbors sets annual open house

The open house on Aug. 23 will kick off a new year of programs and events.

Hopkinsville-Christian County Newcomers and Neighbors is inviting potential new members to an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Saint John Methodist Church, 2808 S. Virginia St.

The open house kicks off a new year of programming and events following a summer break.

Established in 1976 as the Newcomers, the group later expanded its definition and purpose to include anyone interested in meeting people and engaging with the community — regardless of whether they are recent transplants to the area.

The club meets monthly at different locations for lunch and a presentation on some topic of interest. In addition, Newcomers and Neighbors also has subgroups — Crafters, the Lunch Bunch, Book Club and Cruising with Friends (for antique auto enthusiasts). Anyone who attends the open house can learn more about this groups.

The organization’s sponsor is Planters Bank. More information is available on the Newcomers and Neighbors Facebook page
