HCC slates awards ceremony for ‘Round Table Literary Journal’

The journal will be unveiled at noon Wednesday in Hopkinsville Community College's Round Table Literary Park.

The 57th “Round Table Literary Journal” will be presented during an awards ceremony honoring several contributors at noon Wednesday, May 17, in Hopkinsville Community College’s Round Table Literary Park.

The journal includes poetry, fiction and nonfiction from writers in the region, along with artwork from students at the college and from Christian County High School, Indian Hills Elementary School and University Heights Academy. It was overseen by HCC English faculty members Caitlin Chester, who was editor, and Elizabeth Burton, who was co-editor.

The literary journal is “founded upon the idea that all voices deserve representation,” states a press release from HCC. Instructor Frances G. Thomas and a group of honor students published the first journal in 1966.

The awards ceremony will include readings by several people who had stories and poems selected for the 57th edition. The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served. In the event of rain, the ceremony will be in HCC’s Auditorium Gallery.
