Snow’s coming Friday night

The region is under a winter weather advisory from Friday evening until Saturday morning.

Hopkinsville and surrounding areas are under a winter weather advisory from 6 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday with snow in the forecast and the potential for slippery driving conditions.

The region could see up to an inch of snow accumulation, according to the forecast from the National Weather Service at Paducah.

“With cooling ground and road surfaces, some slick spots will be possible through daybreak on Saturday,” the advisory states.

Friday’s overnight low temperature will be in the upper teens, but the wind chill temperature will be in the single digits.

Temperatures will remain below freezing until Sunday, when the high will climb to around 50 degrees.

The extended forecast indicates highs in the 60s next week through Thursday.
