League of Women Voters to host online book discussion of ‘Why We’re Polarized’

Former mayor Dan Kemp will lead the book talk.

Dan Kemp, a Hopkinsville attorney and former mayor, will lead a discussion of Ezra Klein’s book “Why We’re Polarized” during a Zoom meeting at 6 p.m. Feb. 8 for the League of Women Voters of Hopkinsville.

The book discussion will be part of the league’s regular monthly meeting. Anyone interested in joining the session may register by emailing Henrietta Kemp or calling her at 270-886-3776.

Klein is a New York Times columnist. He co-founded the explanatory news site Vox.

His book, writes the publisher Simon and Schuster, “reveals the structural and psychological forces behind America’s descent into division and dysfunction. Neither a polemic nor a lament, Klein offers a clear framework for understanding everything from Trump’s rise to the Democratic Party’s leftward shift to the politicization of everyday culture.”
