HCC food pantry plans drive-thru distribution on April 1

The college’s Pathfinder Pantry will provide assistance for up to 85 students on the main campus and 15 students at Fort Campbell.

Hopkinsville Community College students can register online to receive food and a $15 Kroger gift card at a drive-thru distribution from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 1.

The college’s Pathfinder Pantry will provide assistance for up to 85 students on the main campus and 15 students at Fort Campbell. Each student will receive a git card and a tote bag with high-protein food, canned fruit, vegetables and cereals, officials said in a news release. The assistance will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

The college used a gift from Planters Bank to obtain hundreds of pounds of food from Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland, said HCC Foundation president Nancy Bullard. The gift cards were purchased with funding from the federal coronavirus aid package.

“We continue to find new ways to address barriers to educational attainment, and donors like Planters Bank are critical as we fund initiatives to create additional resources. Every gift given is wisely used to directly benefit students,” HCC President Dr. Alissa Young said.
