Wind chill advisory issued; low temps Friday and Saturday will be near zero

The wind chill Friday will be as low as minus 10.

A wind chill advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday across Western Kentucky.

“The cold wind chills tonight could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken,” the National Weather Service said in its advisory. 

The overnight low will be around 6 degrees, but the wind chill will be as low as minus 10, according to the forecast. The overnight low Saturday will be around 2 degrees, but warmer weather is coming Monday with a high around 43 degrees. 

The Salvation Army’s Extreme Weather Shelter, 313 E. Seventh St., will open at 7 p.m. Friday for anyone needing a warm place through the night.
