Who is the best adult speller in Hopkinsville? The literacy council aims to find out.

The BIG BEE Spelling Bee will be on Aug. 1 at Hopkinsville Brewing Co.

Spelling bees have traditionally been a competitive classroom exercise for students.

But what if some adults gathered at a local watering hole to see who deserves bragging rights as the best speller in town?

That could happen at the BIG BEE Spelling Bee slated for 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at Hopkinsville Brewing Co., 102 E. Fifth St.

The adult spelling bee is a fundraiser for the Christian County Literacy Council. Visit Hopkinsville is helping organize the event.

The entry fee for spellers who want to compete is $20. Participants can pay the fee and register online before the event.
