Voter registration event Tuesday at Founders Square

Members of AKA and League of Women Voters are leading the effort.

Two local service organizations — The League of Women Voters of Hopkinsville and Beta Rho Omega chapter of AKA — will partner for an event to observe National Voter Registration Day.

Members will be at the Downtown Farmer Market in Founders Square, Ninth and Main streets, from 7 a,.m. to noon Tuesday, to help those who want to register to vote.

“All you need is your smart phone, basic information and Social Security number (which will not be released). If you do not have a smart phone, you will still be able to register. And as always, please remember to social distance,” a league spokeswoman said in a news release.

National Voter Registration Day is an annual, nonpartisan observance that is celebrated on the fourth Tuesday in September.

Any U.S. citizen who will be 18 years old by Election Day on Nov. 3 is eligible to register.
