United Way goal is slightly higher than last year’s effort

Campaign leaders announced that almost 30% of the $730,000 goal had already been raised by kick-off event Thursday.

Lucas Stagner and Whitney Stewart will attempt to push this year’s United Way of the Pennyrile fundraising campaign a bit higher than last year’s effort. The co-chairs announced Thursday morning that the goal is $730,000, according to a Facebook post about the kick-off breakfast at the Christian County Senior Center. The 2021-22 campaign generated $726,743.

This theme for the campaign is Planting Seeds of Hope. The breakfast decorations included “blooming table runners” painted by second graders at South Christian Elementary School.

“We are on our way to reaching our $730,000 goal, and have about 29% already committed!,” the organization said in the Facebook post.
