Christian Circuit Family Court Judge Jason S. Fleming received the Distinguished Jurist Award from the University of Kentucky’s J. David Rosenberg College of Law during a ceremony Wednesday evening in Lexington.
The award was presented during the law school’s annual Alumni Awards and Hall of Fame Reception.

Fleming, who earned his law degree at UK in 1997, was the second youngest honoree (by year of graduation) among eight alumni that the college recognized during the reception at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom, according to a post on the college’s Facebook page.
Awards were also presented to:
- Hall of Fame recipients: Allison Connelly, ’83; Christopher Frost, ’86 (posthumously), and David Y. Olinger Jr., ’76
- Professional Achievement: Kimberly H. Baird, ’96
- Community Service: Judge Janie McKenzie-Wells, ’86
- Young Professional: Eric C. Straub, ’17
- Legacy: Chauncey E. Brummer, ’74
Fleming was elected to the Christian Circuit Court bench as a family court judge in November 2006 and previously served as an assistant county attorney from 1998 to 2006. He was in private practice with Thomas, Arvin and Fleming from 1997 to 2000.
The program for the UK ceremony noted that Fleming has been the music minister for Living Hope Baptist Church in Hopkinsville since August 2010.
The Kentucky Bar Association’s Young Lawyers’ Section named Fleming the 2011 Outstanding Young Lawyer, which is among numerous honors he has received for his judicial work.
Fleming’s wife, Tonya, is also an attorney. They have two children.
