The former principal of Indian Hills Elementary School will become the next head of school at University Heights Academy.
The UHA Board of Trustees on Thursday announced the selection of Tonya Oakley to lead UHA. She will work with outgoing Head of School Beth Unfried, who is retiring, “to ensure a smooth transition,” the board said in a brief statement.
Oakley was principal of Indian Hills from 2015 to 2021, when she retired from the public school system. She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, a master’s in gifted and talented education and her Rank I certification from Murray State University.
University Heights is an independent, college-preparatory school for students in pre-kindergarten through high school. The campus is on North Drive. The school will mark its 50th anniversary in September 2023.
