Two Christian County schools getting new principals

Hopkinsville Middle School will have a new principal for the 2025-26 school year, the district announced Friday in a press release. 

Andrew Goins has submitted his resignation, effective June 30, and Renikka Owens, who is currently principal of Millbrooke Elementary School, will become the interim principal at Hopkinsville Middle School.

“Mrs. Owen is a proven leader who brings a passion for student achievement and a dedication to building strong school communities,” Superintendent Chris Bentzel said in their release

“Her experience at the elementary level and her ability to connect with students, families, and staff make her an excellent fit to lead Hopkinsville Middle School. We are confident she will continue to build on the great work happening at HMS and continue moving the school in the right direction,” he said.”

Owen was hired as assistant principal at Millbrooke in 2015 and as principal in 2020.

District spokeswoman Johnna Brown said Goins will become an assistant principal at Hopkinsville High School after he departs the middle school. 

Effective July 1, Tyler Stallons will become the interim principal at Millbrooke.

Currently an assistant principal at Christian County Middle School, Stallons began his teaching career in 2008 as a social studies teacher at Hopkinsville Middle School. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Union College and his master’s degree at Murray State University. 

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Tyler Stallons as the interim principal at Millbrooke Elementary,” Bentzel said. “His dedication to student success, strong leadership, and commitment to building positive relationships make him a great fit for this role. We are confident that Mr. Stallons will continue the tradition of excellence at Millbrooke and provide steady, student-focused leadership during this transition.”
