Among the provisions, the bill would eliminate what’s known as “broad-based categorical eligibility” which is what allows cabinet officials to qualify Kentuckians for SNAP benefits automatically if they qualify for other forms of public assistance, such as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). Forty-four states including Kentucky implement broad-based categorical eligibility.
The Old Capitol building is the third of four buildings that have housed the Kentucky legislature since 1792. Now a museum, it is operated by the Kentucky Historical Society.
Bills moving through the General Assembly include legislation that would ban public entities from asking amployees and applicants about their vaccination status, as well as a proposal to give a religious exemption if an employer requires workers to be immunized against any disease.
