The Christian County Literacy Council has selected "learning" as the theme for this year's contest.

After a tornado took out the Dalton house chimney, owners Grace and Brendan Abernethy, along with a mason who works on historic properties, spent 40 hours and used 700 bricks to rebuild it.

Hopkinsville attorneys Dan Kemp and Craig Richardson spoke at Thursday's meeting of the Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club.

Community members who want to watch the parade traditionally line the sidewalks, especially in the area near the intersection of Ninth and Virginia streets. 

According to unofficial results from the Christian County Clerk’s Office, 41.8% of the county’s 52,121 registered voters cast a ballot. 

The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights will host the ceremony on Nov. 22 at the James E. Bruce Convention Center.

Gift items made by 20 local artists will be featured in the bazaar at the Carnegie Library.

County Clerk Melinda Humprhies said things went smoothly at three early voting centers on Thursday, and voters were patient even with an hourlong wait to cast a ballot.

It did not appear that any opinions in favor or against the deal changed during Wednesday's meeting at the hospital.

City officials rescheduled the event because of the forecast for rain Halloween afternoon and evening.

No-excuse early voting begins on Thursday, Oct. 31.
