Rent for the income-restricted property will range from at least $495 for a one-bedroom apartment to $595 for a two-bedroom unit.

The council will have a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, to approve the tax ordinances on second reading.

The contribution is the largest independent fundraiser for the local United Way's 2019 campaign.

The Union Benevolent Society established the cemetery for African Americans shortly after the Civil War.

The 647-square-foot restaurant was fully restored following a fire that gutted the landmark business on July 4.
