Many secondary roads in Hopkinsville and surrounding areas are still snow-covered or have icy patches but driving conditions overall had improved Friday, prompting some facilities to reopen.
Conditions should continue to improve through the weekend. Although temperatures remained in the teens Friday morning, the National Weather Service said Saturday’s high will be in the high-30s and temperatures will climb to the high 40s on Sunday.
Here’s a list of closures and reopening:
- Christian County Public Schools — no in-person instruction Friday as public schools continue with NTI. Extracurricular activities and food services are canceled.
- Regional COVID-19 vaccination site at James E. Bruce Convention Center — open 8:30 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Friday.
- Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library — closed Friday.
- Hopkinsville YMCA — open Friday. Classes and child care resume.
- Thomas Street Recreation Center — open Friday.
- Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex — open Friday.
- Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County — closed through Saturday.
- Hopkinsville Community College — all classes will meet virtually through Friday, while campus offices are closed. Students may access virtual services online.
- Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority — main office building closed. HWEA’s Forbes Building drive-thru payment lanes open 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday. Customers can also make payments by calling 270-887-4246 or online.
- Kentucky General Assembly — session in recess through Friday.
- City of Hopkinsville — non-essential offices closed until Monday with employees working from home when possible.
- Aaron McNeil House — Food distribution at Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds postponed until Saturday, Feb. 27.
