Snow is the best, but not only, prediction for Saturday Christmas parade

If the city catches a break, it'll be snow – and not rain – that will fall during the annual Christmas parade on Saturday.

Rain is possible around midday Saturday in Hopkinsville about the same time floats, band members and other participants will be assembling for the 2018 Hopkinsville Christmas parade.

But if the city catches a good break, the precipitation will change to snow around 5 p.m., the National Weather Service predicts.

The timing will be important since the parade is scheduled to head up Main Street from Glass Avenue at 5:15 p.m.

Several downtown businesses plan to have special hours for the Christmas parade. Among those are several restaurants.

  • The Corner Coffeehouse will remain open from 6:30 a.m. until 7 p.m.
  • Amanda’s Cupcake Cafe will open at 6:30 a.m. and stay open through the parade.
  • Main Street Tavern’s Saturday hours are 5 until 9 p.m. for dinner.
  • Seafood King will also be open during its regular Saturday hours, 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
  • The Place: A Local Eatery will have lunch hours only, 11 .am. until 2 p.m.

Following the parade, the Pennyroyal Arts Council will show “Polar Express” at 7 p.m. at the Alhambra Theatre. Admission is free for the G-rated movie.
